Mary Ann's Travel Story

We sat down with Mary Ann to chat about her travel tips...What do you always pack when you travel?

To sleep in:
Eberjey robe, it's a soft robe I like to wear when I'm getting ready for bed (I fall asleep in seconds when I put it on).

To the airport:
Black Calvin Klein oversized cashmere sweater (It feels like a blanket) and Morgan Lane lounge pants, they are super cozy. I also bring a black scarf and a black eyemask. This eyemask Bon Voyage is my go-to because I designed it with Morgan.

To work out in:
Nike leggings (black), free running shoes (also Nike), and Under Armour top.

To Dinner:
Dark grey romper and Rag & Bone booties.

Check or carry-on:
I usually pack light, I can fit everything in a weekend tote or a carry-on.  I don't like checking bags because waiting for the bags to arrive adds on another hour to my trip.

Hair and skincare products:
I mainly carry-on, so all my products need to be travel size.  I bring Oribe Shampoo and Oribe conditioner, I love the classic line. It smells amazing and it protects my highlights from fading. I get my hair done at Chris McMillan in LA, twice a year.  I like to use nice products to preserve my highlights, and my investment (Chris McMillan isn't cheap).  I also bring my own face wash and moisturizer.  I throw them all in my caileur bag, and if any of the bottles accidentally open - my clothes are protected.

Business Attire:
Theory tailored pants in dark grey, a white button down shirt (always makes me feel polished), and Rag & Bone booties.  I also have a lightweight Opening Ceremony tote that I use as a laptop bag.

Travel Routine:
I pack 6 pieces of clothing, chug a coffee, and call an Uber to go to the airport.

Best travel tip:
I start drinking 1-2 liters of water the day before I fly to help combat any jet-lag or dehydration. Also, I always have a movie to watch on my laptop, it helps me to unwind on the plane.

Favorite movie to watch on the plane:
Jurassic Park. Martin Scorsese and Steven Spielberg are two of my favorite directors. Steven Spielberg films are a bit lighter, so I tend to watch those in-flight.

Favorite book:
The Remains of the Day by Kazuo Ishiguro. More recently I read a biography (of one of my favorite painters) by Walter Isaacson.

Dream trip:
Post Ranch in Big Sur. I really love Northern California, and I loved tree houses growing up.  One of my friends went to a boarding school in Pebble Beach and I'd like to go with her. She knows Northern California really well. We would go to Pfeiffer Beach in Big Sur, Carmel, Santa Cruz mountains, and Half Moon Bay.
